I just found out that every pair of shoes I wear to work must conform to the following guidelines:
1. closed toe
2. closed back
3. no more than 2.5" in height
I own approximately zero pairs that conform.
And I was denied a raise for shoes.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT? WHAT? WHAT???
i am seething for you!!!
WHAT????
Did you secretly join a convent or something? Are they worried that a bowling ball will fly out of the building and into your office and smush your tooties? WTF????
I say you quit and do something creative....like photography or something.
Oh wait. ;)
I would have to quit my job immediately. Luckily, my HR lady has a shoe obsession strikingly similar to mine, so this should never happen.
On the bright side, you should be able to get away with only having two pairs of work shoes (black and brown), since I'm pretty sure there's only one style that exists and conforms to those guidelines. Unfortunately, you're now going to have to flaunt your cuteness using non-shoe accessories, which I personally would find challenging.
Ummm....where do you work - the Soviet Union circa 1975?
That really does suck. When I think of the sheer volume of awesome shoes those rules leave out, I kind of get a little teary eyed.
Not cool. It's kind if insulting actually. I don't like dress codes at work beyond the obvious.
Ummm. That really sucks honey. That leaves you wearing shoes that sound depressingly not cute.
Perhaps you can score a cute pair of closed toe pumps with a heel under 2.5 inches. But I mean really, are they going to measure the size of your high heels if you break the rules? ;)
damn wtf! no heels! no peep toes or sling backs! ew!
I had a job like that once. Now I sometimes wear flip flops to work. I agree with that JustChic person. Run away and become a photographer!
I feel anyone who pays that much attention to other people's feet at work has big issues and not enough to do. I was supposed to wear pantyhose at my last corporate job and never did in the summer. I was just waiting for someone to dare say something, so I could slit his/her throat. Sadly, no one gave me the opportunity.
