Sweet Tea

After the disaster area that was Arizona Sweet Tea, I knew I had to make my own. It's so incredibly simple that I'm not sure why I even attempted the Arizona version.

A pot of boiling water, a crapload of sugar, a few tea bags. The end. And by crapload, I mean, an insanely immense amount. Like, more than you ever want to consider being in a beverage. My best friends mother makes a sweet tea that will rot your teeth the second it comes into contact. And it is delicious.

This time, I just threw some sugar in. And I kind of dropped the bag while pouring, so there was a lot more sugar than I meant. Alas, I have lost my touch. Because my tea is not sweet at all!

My Living Room is Gonna Be Famous!

Well, not truly famous, but it's going to be on TV :-)

It'll be in a 3 second blip in a Nashville Star set up package for that guy with the guitar. Their location fell through and they need a new spot. Chris knows the folks there from casting, so it worked well!

I got stuck at work and couldn't make it home while they were shooting. I'm a sucker for TV stuff and am super sad to have missed it! But Chris took these on the iphone and sent them over to keep me informed. Hearts for him!

Cutting Out the Unnecessary

The busier I get the less important some things become. I was once addicted to American Idol. I religiously watched every show. Sometimes, even in real time! I felt the same about Biggest Loser. Every episode was watched with no distraction.

But this season, I decided that I wasted way too much time in front of the television on this stuff. I mean really, except for the faces, it's same shit/different day. So I stopped.

And I couldn't be happier. There's not a single part of me that cares about this singer or that weigh-in. I thought I would feel sad. Left out. And yet, I barely notice. This is good.

I decided it would just be scripted for this girl. And now, I'm thinking about cutting those back too. I love Gossip Girl. But last night, it was so soap opera-y I could barely stand it. I wanted to kick Jenny in the face. Slap Blair. Run a knife through that new girl. And you're supposed to. If the writers do their job, you're supposed to feel for these characters. But I felt nothing for Serena. Stupid girl. I realized that I was spending a good 40 minutes watching bologna when I could attack my mountain of to dos.

So, perhaps I am done with scripted. Maybe I'll just throw the TV out.

WOAHHHH, I'm back. Went too far.

Body: Gots to Find the Motivation

I am severely lacking in the motivation department these days. I've heaped so much on to my plate that improving me has been pushed with a mighty force to the back burner. I must remember that going to the gym makes me feel good. When I feel good, I have more energy. When I have more energey, I'm better at life. When I'm better at life, I'm just fabulous. It's a vicious circle that if not regularly moved, reverts to the opposite - bad at life. This is all kinds of bad.

As a project person, I can't just BE motivated. I need to have a reason. A goal. A driving force.

So, I have a goal. Down to wedding weight by Memorial Day weekend. That's only 5 pounds in a bit less than 3 weeks.

If I write it here, I'm responsible for it. And I would feel bad letting all 3 of my blog readers down :-)

Date: Tuesday May 6
Weight: 125
Goal: 5 to go

The Reason I Don't Cook

I don't cook because Chris is so good at it. He pulls bunch of crap from the fridge and creates something fabulous. He gets this from his mom. This woman once created a quiche crust from baked potato skins devoured the night previous. Who can do this!? Martha and Ellen, that's who.

Chris inherited this and I am so thankful. I would survive off cereal and PB&J. No joke. Perhaps some grapefruit too. Hearts for grapefruit!

A few nights ago, he broke out the Kitchen Aid Meat Grinder. Grinding your own meat is a lot of work. Worth it? Eh, I don't know. Tastes good... but it's hard to beat the Buffalo Burgers from TJ's. Those are perfection!

I think it makes you feel accomplished. Like you can do anything. And that's important. So then, yes. It's worth every bit of time and effort. To feel on top of the world!

I would post his recipe here. But I don't think there is one. It involves sirloin, onions, beer, garlic, Greek Seasoning, more beer, pepper and a splash of beer. Chris likes beer.

So, he cooks. I drink wine. Take some photos. And play with the buns.

We know our roles :-) Yet, I feel the need to learn this craft. Will get more involved. Soon.

In other news, when did those laugh lines happen!?

Replacing the Stolen Goods

When it was just replacing the window, it wasn't so bad. $200 and we were done. But I don't think you ever realize how much general life costs.

Gym Shoes. Had to replace those. Stupid gym shoes. I don't even like the gym. But I'm working on being a good little gym rat and going more regularly. Got to jump on this motivational train.

So I headed to Snails Pace in Pasadena. I usually snap up some cheapo shoes at DSW. Selected soley on their color/prettiness level. But, I figured, as long as I was picking out new stuff, I would get good stuff.

I turn in a bit on my right foot. Ran around in a cute little linen pant/top outfit. Sexy. :-)

The Nike shoe felt all kinds of loose. Like it might fall off. But apprently I have a wide foot. I call them my "bricks". At a size 5.5, I'm about as wide as I am long. Bricks.

This Adidas pair, good. But just not quite right.

And then there came the best pair. They hug my cankles with some kind of padded something. Excellent. And turquoise and blue! Excellently fabulous.

Things that Suck

Being a Southern Girl, it's rare to find Sweet Tea in my new home. (I've been here three years, can I still say "new"?!)

Anyways, we were at Howe's. I approached the end cap and a can of my Southern roots looked at me with hope and dreams on it's sleeve. I was beyond giddy. I think I even jumped up and down. I may have even clapped. And I popped it into the cart with enthusiasm!

Then I opened it. And it sucked. Poop.

I think this girl needs a trip to the South real soon.
